Lucette Urn

$24.00

The word urn actually refers to a vase that often has a pedestal and one or two handles that serve as both a decorative and practical purpose.

This sweet small vase seems to depict a few of the nine Greek Muses, who were the nine daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne (the goddess of memory). They were Goddesses of the arts, astronomy, poetry, dance, and literature. The Muses were integral to the artistic development of Ancient Greece. The poets attempted to summon the Muses, who they believed would respond by giving them inspirations for their work. The Ancient Greeks worshiped the Muses until Christianity became the dominant religion in Europe.

This is a found object in great condition. The vase has a bit of wear around the gold along the opening. The bottom has a bit of normal wear as well, and I have left the sticker “Made in Japan” on the bottom.

At the tallest point the vase measures 6 inches high by about 3 inches wide and 8 1/2 inches in diameter. The vase opening is very small at about 3 inches.
