Hanria Pitcher
The beautiful mid-century pitcher is from Alfred Meakin. Alfred Meakin Ltd. was set up in 1875 and operated from the Royal Albert, Victoria, and Highgate potteries in Tunstall, England. Alfred Meakin produced ironstone china and white granitewear.
The beautifully depicted scene takes place in the small village of Tintern located in Monmouthshire, Whales. It depicts a Shepard tending to his flock on the River Wye in the foreground. The background is the historic landmark of the Tintern Abbey ruins. The Abbey was founded in 1131 and surrendered to King Henry VIII in 1536.
