Osmin Egg Basket

$18.00

The idea of an open wire egg basket construction dates back to the early 1900s. The gathering of eggs was mostly a chore given to children to collect in the morning and the evening. The baskets were usually filled with straw or cloth to help keep the eggs from breaking.

This is a found object in good condition. While, Osmin is a vintage basket and not an antique it is still packed full of charm! The wire was once brushed in gold, but has wear all throughout (which I think adds character).

The basket measures about 11 3/4 long, about 7 inches wide, about 8 inches high, and the egg opening is 13 inches around. The handles move back and forth to allow full access to the opening.

Additional uses - storing small linens, sewing notions

Please email with any additional questions.
